Jessica graduated from Whitworth University with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Since then, she has worked for Lutheran Community Services and Spokane Public Schools, helping children and adolescents struggling with Anxiety, Depression, PTSD, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, family conflict, and other issues.
She loves working with children and has extensive experience across various settings and age groups. Prior to becoming a therapist, Jessica was an elementary school teacher, middle school youth leader, nanny, mentor, soccer coach, and teacher for high school students from Japan. She also understands that parenting, while amazing and rewarding, can be incredibly challenging. One of her passions is offering support to parents as well as their children. For those feeling overwhelmed, tired, and frustrated with their kids, Jessica wants to assure them they are not alone. She hopes to provide tools and offer grace to parents, acknowledging that parenting is not easy.
Jessica is also passionate about helping couples develop healthy relationships. She believes strong marriages tend to produce strong families but recognizes that maintaining a healthy marriage requires effort. Sometimes, the way we communicate what we need doesn’t yield the desired response, and our deepest hurts often happen in marriage because we care so deeply. But wounds can heal, and Jessica takes great joy in witnessing that healing. She has hope for relationships and believes that a healthy marriage is worth the work.
One of the scriptures Jessica loves that relates to her work as a counselor is Proverbs 20:5:
“The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.”
As humans, we can sometimes find ourselves in deep waters that feel dark, scary, and hopeless. Jessica believes that sometimes, we need another person to help us navigate through those murky waters. This is why she pursued a career as a counselor—hope is what Jesus gives her, and it is the best gift. She is inspired to share that hope with others.
Jessica looks forward to meeting new clients and is excited to begin the journey of working together.
